UPDATE: Fix for Broken Barnes & Noble e-Reader iPhone App

    Stanza iPhone App

    Source: www.lexcycle.com

A couple of weeks ago I posted about the problems with the Barnes & Noble e-reader app on the iPhone. Fortunately, I have found a way to read my B&N e-book on the iphone, without the need for their app. If you find yourself with the same predicament I had, follow these steps and you’ll be reading in no time:

First, install the Stanza app on your iPhone (iTunes link). It’s another free e-reader app.

Next you need to download the .pdb file of your e-book from the B&N website. You don’t need their PC application, just the .pdb file for your book(s).

Now you need to get the .pdb file into the Stanza iPhone app. There are a few different ways to do this, all of which are explained on the Lexcycle website. I downloaded the Lexcycle stanza app to my computer and shared the book via wifi (search the support page for “Sharing Using Stanza Desktop”).  I can’t speak for the other methods, but this one worked well for me.

Once you get the book in the Stanza app, you will need to put in your name and credit card to unlock it (just like in the B&N app).

Now you can read your e-book on the iPhone, and it won’t crash! Happy reading!
