Yesterday Research In Motion unveiled their BB10 operating system. The company has fallen on tough times and they hope that the new OS will secure RIM a #3 spot in smart phone sales. They’ve also realized that they need to bring developers on-board early and get some great apps into their ecosystem at launch. By all accounts, the RIM Playbook tablet failed because of a lack of applications. It not only lacked 3rd party apps but also core apps such as calendaring & email. This time around they’re trying to entice developers. What better way to attract devs than a music video?
Queue Research In Motion’s biggest flop yet:
Research in motion is far from the only company to employ a “promotional” video. Both Apple and Microsoft have been guilty of such maneuvers, albeit on an “internal” basis. Here are a few from those tech giants.
Microsoft’s “Windows Vista SP1″ — Their ecosystem rocks!
Yes, Microsoft really went there.
Apple’s “I Think We’re A Clone Now”:
Ok, so this video stems from Apple’s darkest moments. Still…it made it out there.
Apple’s “Blue Busters”:
Actually, this one isn’t terrible. However not-terrible does not equal great.

Apple gets a couple extra points only because they at least added some funny visuals, more than just a dude impersonating another dude. But I guess apple has always been more creative ;)
Great = terrible
